This is great practice, Poppy, but I’d like to ask you to format the next scene as a screenplay. You can download Fade In for free, and that does a lot of the work for you. If you prefer to write like this — or longhand in a notebook, or whatever works for you — that’s totally fine! I tend to write loads of notes in a notebook, then type them up, then paste them into Fade In and use that to convert the content into the right format. It doesn’t add much to the writing process, but makes a huge difference to how the script looks and read!

I’m really enjoying the way your scenes are starting to take shape Poppy. It’s really nice to see your creativity in the way you’re exploring the family. This kind of prose is the way I explore my stories too. I agree with Simon that you might want to have a look at how Fade In works and it would be really nice to see you write a scene in the screenplay format. But also – go with what works. Something is taking form here and it’s great to see.
