Superhero Task

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000gg30/mark-kermodes-secrets-of-cinema-series-2-1-superheroes

After watching this documentary as a set task I had a few ideas on how to improve my characters background story and to try and get the audience to feel for the characters and what their going through.

The next task I picked was to Invent a Superhero for current times and explain how they fit into the criteria explored in the Secrets of Cinema episode.

My superhero would be a young girl and her super power is helping the environment and all the life forms stay alive and help protect all the animal/nature from being destroyed.

Her name is Nelly Nature Girl. She has heeling powers that can work on trees/plants and animals.

Nelly discovered her powers when she was 5 years old. Her pet rabbit Buddy got cort in a fence. Buddy’s leg had a big cut on it and when Nelly rescued him she held him in her arms and said everything would be okay. A few seconds later the cut had heeled and Buddy has fine.

Her number one villain is Diana The Destroyer. Her power is that she can destroy anything with a click of her fingers and dosnt care of the consequences.

Nelly’s day job is that she works for one of the biggest nature magazine companies in the world. She is a editor. Also by doing this she can find out the whereabouts of her biggest villain.

She keeps her identity a secret. Her costume is different shades of green with lots of green sea-quines. She also has a pin badge of buddy on her consume She has big black boots. She always has her long blue hair flowing down. But at work she has her hair tied up and wears a baseball cap.

When Nelly was little she used to live in a big city until her mum and dad split up and she moved with her dad to the countryside and found her love of the outdoors and nature. Her mentor is her dad who is a zoo-olagist and shseres the same love of animals as Nelly.

More Research On Screen Writing

I found these images on Pinterest.

I have been struggling with the structure of my script and were to place serten events to keep the audience hooked. After doing some research I found this I thought it was really helpful and inspiring. From this I will go back to my script and try and get the audience hooked straight away. I will also work down this list I found and follow it and use it in my own script work.

I found this and thought it was really interesting and could really help me a lot. For example it could help me plan out what will happen in each of the scene in the script and to get a clear view in what will happen and how to work around any problems before I probably write my script.

Research-Rosie

When I image Rosie I think of her as being shy and keeps her self to her self but is always willing to to help others.

The way she’s dressed is really important to express how she is feeling and how to express her self. For me this is the kind of outfit Rosie would wear. Trendy but also basic so she didn’t stand out or draw attention to herself. She always has her I pod and earphones on her so when she wants to zone out or if it’s getting too much for her she can have that coping mechanism to relax. By the way she’s dressed she’s kinda artistic and always keeps her art book and pencils in her bag in case she has an idea or wants to escape and doze out.

Notes

Here are some notes I made ages ago. Writing down ideas for the story line, characters and setting really helped us build up the story and develop it. Recently we have been doing writing classes to help us build up the script/story and the characters. This really helped me because it got me thinking about the characters backgrounds and their past and how it effects them today it the present. Going to there’s classes have inspired me to work more on my character development and the locations we need that would create the right setting and atmosphere for the script.

Research- Books

I have started reading this screen writing book to help me get more ideas and to help me with the layout.

From what I have read I have learnt about how to keep the audience interested and hooked on the script. Also I have learnt about Test Marketing. Test marketing is all about coming up with a good log-line and testing different ideas before you go pitch the idea.

I found this really interesting Summery in the book. After reading this it got me thinking about the hero in both of my scripts and how to show their journey and their emotional journey. After reading this I set myself a task when describing the “hero” use more adjectives to define a primal goal or setting and to make the sceen come to life. I think my also doing this will help we see the layout/movie in my head and will help me get ideas.

Character Profile For My Own Script. The Hardest Day Of My Life.

Name- Rosie

Age- 18

Description- she is quite short and has long brown hair that hangs down her face covering her face. She has big brown eyes

Rosie wants to come out to here family but keeps bottling it up and braking down. She keeps imagining the worst in her head and its getting her down. She goes out for a family meal and blurts it out and runs off. Her mum goes after her and tells her how much she loves her and that the family is all here to support her.

Rosie’s goles are to find the strength tell her family about her being gay and to finally come to terms with it and not be ashamed of it.

Keeping all her emotions to herself affects her in so many ways like not eating much, not socially talkative, in a low mood sometimes and is tired often.

Telling her family the truth will change Rosie by trusting people more and know what she can trust her family and know that she is accepted and loved.

This is how I want Rosie to look at the start of the film. Sad and feeling like she can’t look at anyone or get close to anyone and wants to keep herself the herself.

At the end of the film I want all the family to be having a good time and looking all happy and supportive after they have herd the news about Rosie. At the end Rosie is smiling and laughing.

Ideas For My Own Script.

The Circle

Having someone relive a tragic event that has happend in their life and having to relive it every day.

Or getting up everyday and trying to get out the same old circle/ruteen but struggles to do so.

Getting lost in a maze and not being able to find their way out.

Events that spiral out of control. Starts off with something small but ends in an unpleasant way.

The Choice

Boy has to chose whether or not to stay with his mum or dad after there devours.

Young boy has goten himself in a situation where he has to make a quick decision whether or not to fight or flight and could show both sides of what happened if he picked one or the other.

An intense conversation on who gets to do something and people fighting over it.

. For example a bill

. or turning off someones life support

. Someone coming out as gay. A girl/boy decides it time to tell their family that their gay but keeps bottling it up and keeps waiting for the right moment. They keep imagining all the worst things that could happen. And finally decides to come out. Finally over a family meal they blurt it out and everyones silance. The girl/boy is imbassed and runs off. One family member goes after them and says everything will be okay and that they love them and support them.

Wether or not two people decide to try and fix their relationship or to brake up.

Research- Harry Wootliff

https://harrywootliff.com

Harry Wootfliff is an English film and television director and screenwriter. For me she is really good at showing emotions throw her characters.

For example in Her film Nits its about A 7-year-old boy who struggles to understand why his mother returned from hospital, isn’t giving him the attention he craves.

This is a trailer from Harry’s latest film Only You. Elena and Jake meet by chance on New Years Eve, arguing for the same taxi. However, instead of going their separate ways after sharing a taxi ,they start a passionate relationship.

Some themes in this film has helped me write the script form mine. For example arguing and fighting like Sophie and Rob do and that Sophie and Rob also meet by chance/ by accident and there relationship goes from there.

At the end of the film it end peacefully .In the final scene, we see Elena walking through the park on an Autumnal afternoon. She eventually comes to Jake who is stood waiting for her. They walk towards and embrace each other tenderly.

In the end of our film Sophie is walking out her house and the driving instructor is waiting for her and we see her drive off. Some similar themes have made a big influence in our script as a whole. Watching some of Harry’s sort films and seeing all the different characters views, emotions and how they react to serene things have really helped with the script and also character development.
